Search BigPlay for a team: understand All, Channels and Programs

Published October 22, 2026

You know the team you want to watch. You should not have to know which numbered PPV channel carries its next game.

In our BigPlay testing, searching a team name exposed broadcasts buried across several groups. The next step is reading those results correctly.

Start in Live TV: the Home search is different

In the tested mobile interface, the main Home screen has For You at the top, with a Search icon to its right. Below are All, Movies and TV Shows, with All selected by default. That Home search does not return Live TV results. All there refers to that browsing area; it does not include live channels.

  1. Tap LIVE TV in the bottom navigation, immediately to the right of Home.
  2. Look below the small broadcast preview at the top, which shows the last channel.
  3. Find the Search icon about one-third of the way down the screen, just above the channel cards.
  4. Use that search for your team, league or event.

These directions describe the mobile layout observed in our testing. Icon positions may differ on other devices or app versions.

Home search: fast discovery for movies and shows

Home search returns VOD results: movies and TV shows. In our tester’s experience it worked exceptionally well. A search for The Weight found the film in under one second, and playback began in under one second. The supplied copy was in English and looked better to the tester on the phone than the copy watched on a television through Stremio with a torrent/debrid service the previous evening.

That earlier Stremio session had required searching for an English copy with acceptable picture quality. This is one viewing comparison, not a controlled quality benchmark or a promise of those speeds for every title, device or connection.

Convenience on a phone; playback choices on a TV

In the tested BigPlay VOD playback, the viewer could not choose an alternate audio/video source or use audio and subtitle options. Stremio with the configured torrent/debrid service setup offered more source and playback choices. The available choices still depend on the title, source and app.

BigPlay’s quick route from title search to a good supplied copy can be an excellent fit for phone viewing. On a large television, the ability to choose a different source, language, picture quality or subtitles may matter more. Our view is that many phone viewers will prioritize convenience, while viewers with specific big-screen requirements will value those controls.

These are observations of the tested VOD experience, not a claim that every BigPlay version or platform lacks audio/subtitle features. Its Apple listing advertises those features, so the difference between advertised capability and the controls actually available needs further testing. BigPlay Apple listing.

Three views within LIVE search

The tested app displays All, Channels and Programs under LIVE. Compare these views instead of stopping at the first result.

  • All: start with the combined view, then narrow your search.
  • Channels: look for the team in a channel’s name. Providers sometimes put an event directly into a PPV channel name.
  • Programs: look for matching programme listings supplied by the guide. This is a separate route to finding coverage, including on channels whose names do not mention the team.

Interface details can vary by app version. A match in a channel name and a match in a programme listing are different clues; neither alone confirms that the match is underway.

For PPV sports, the channel name may be your best guide

In our testing of live PPV sports outside traditional cable sports channels, matching programme information appeared very rarely. The event information was instead carried in channel names: the league, teams, date and time. For these events, start with Channels and read the full name. Check Programs as an additional source when listings are available, rather than relying on it to find every event.

This describes the tested services and results. Event naming and guide coverage depend on the provider and can change.

Our Alkmaar example: six channels, several clues

On October 22, 2026, a search for Alkmaar returned six channels with ALKMAAR in their names. These were the reported channel-name results, not a count of all possible programme matches.

  • Two ended-match entries: their names began with END.
  • One UK| MAX PPV entry: its name began with NEXT.
  • One US| PARAMOUNT+ PPV entry and two US| UEFA PPV entries: their names began with UEFA.

That one word surfaced six candidate channels across different groups. It did not mean six games were playing live.

Read the prefix before pressing Play

END identified ended-event labels in this test. NEXT suggested upcoming coverage. UEFA identified the competition, without establishing whether the event was finished, upcoming or currently playing. These are provider-supplied naming clues, not universal BigPlay status rules.

Compare the opponent, event date and kickoff time wherever supplied. An old event label may still be searchable. Multiple results may offer different commentary languages or feeds; the result count alone cannot establish that they are distinct broadcasts.

Our Leafs search: guide hits and channel-name hits

In the same day’s Live TV search for leafs, our tester found two ESPN PLUS channels with guide information for that evening at 6:25 p.m., plus a TSN4 guide result. There were also seven channel-name hits containing leafs. These are two ways of discovering coverage; they do not establish ten separate broadcasts or ten different games. The displayed guide time is recorded as observed, without assuming it is the match’s actual kickoff time.

A useful result can still hide the detail you need

In the tested BigPlay interface, long channel names remained static rather than scrolling. Most or all of the date and time near the end could be hidden. That matters especially for PPV results, where the channel name may contain the event details that the guide lacks.

Our tester observed scrolling channel names in TiviMate, making those long names easier to read there. BigPlay’s search can uncover useful event channels, but its result display can make choosing between them harder. Do not assume that a truncated result refers to tonight’s game simply because it contains your team’s name.

Use visible guide information where available and confirm the event on the selected channel. We have not verified a BigPlay control that reveals the complete long name in these search results; this guide does not promise one.

A useful search routine

  1. Load the playlist you intend to search.
  2. Open LIVE TV at the bottom, then use its Search icon above the channel cards. Search one distinctive team word, such as Alkmaar.
  3. Compare Channels and Programs under LIVE.
  4. Read the full event name, status clues and available schedule.
  5. Open the best candidate and confirm the picture, commentary and match.

If the channel-name search misses a game, inspect Programs too. If the guide has no listing, channel names may still help. Our test does not establish how early each provider refreshes event names or how completely it covers every game.

LIVE can lead to a preview

In a separate UEFA search during our testing, a Ziggo Sport result opened a channel previewing a match hours before kickoff. BigPlay presented a LIVE option while that channel was broadcasting at the time of the search. The broadcast was active; the match itself was still hours away. That is the distinction: a live channel is not necessarily a live match. Use the event date and kickoff time in the channel name, and programme information when available, to understand what you are opening. A 4K label also needs playback verification before you judge picture quality.

Try search on mobile, then add big-screen surfing

A mobile trial is an easy way to test team searches against the service’s actual results. Our Setup adds prepared channel organization and guide mappings for supported services, making big-screen browsing useful when you do not already know what to watch. Search for a game; surf when you want to discover one.

This guide records StreamSolved’s hands-on observations, including the Alkmaar search reported October 22, 2026. It is not a claim that every provider uses these labels or returns the same channels.
