The wrong streaming box can make you buy twice. Choose the viewing experience first, then choose the hardware that can deliver it.

A familiar brand, a sale price or a powerful processor does not tell you whether a device will run the apps you want. For someone who wants StreamSolved’s prepared TiviMate experience, that compatibility matters from day one.

Our value baseline: the 2026 ONN 4K Pro

Use the current-generation ONN Pro as the main price reference, with the 2023 Fire TV Stick 4K Max as another compatible Android-based option. Our hands-on ONN restoration and remote-control testing used the owner’s older ONN Pro devices. The 2026 model still needs its own complete StreamSolved deployment test.

Device	Canada · CAD	US · USD	UK · GBP
2026 ONN 4K Pro	$119.52¹	$59.98	No verified local quote
Fire 4K Max · 2nd gen, 2023	$129.99	$84.99	£99.99

¹ Walmart’s latest readable Canadian product listing quoted $119.52. A live browser recheck required human verification, so confirm the local price and stock before ordering. The US quote is $59.98. No verified UK purchase price for the exact 2026 Pro was found; a currency conversion is not a landed-price quote.

In the US, the ONN is $25.01 less than the $84.99 Fire 4K Max quote. Using the Canadian listed price, it is $10.47 less than the $129.99 Fire quote. Brand names alone do not predict the best deal.

Roku: inexpensive hardware can still be the wrong fit

Roku model	Canada · CAD	US · USD	UK · GBP
Streaming Stick HD · 2025	$57.68	$38.98	£22.23
Streaming Stick Plus · 2025	$89.99	$48.97	£28.90
Streaming Stick 4K	$49.98	$59.95	£27.99
Ultra · 2024	$125.48	$149.99²	£109.99³

These are displayed new-product Amazon offers, except ² the US Ultra figure, which is Roku’s own direct price. The inspected Amazon standalone Ultra offer was used, so it is not substituted into this new-unit comparison. ³ The UK Ultra is a marketplace listing, not confirmation of an official UK model or local warranty. Verify seller, region and power accessories.

Roku can be cheaper than an ONN. That is worth acknowledging. The problem arises if you buy it expecting Android TiviMate or Stremio APKs to work. Roku’s developer-mode installation accepts Roku applications, not Android apps. A VPN does not change the operating system. Roku developer documentation.

Roku has no mandatory monthly equipment subscription. Free viewing exists alongside optional paid services. Add only subscriptions you actually choose to keep. Roku’s explanation and Canadian direct prices. Retailer quotes can differ substantially from the manufacturer’s own price, so compare sellers before purchasing.

Apple TV: compare the available configurations

Apple TV configuration	Canada · CAD	US · USD	UK · GBP
4K · 4th gen, 2026 · 128GB	$429.00	$289.99	£299.00
4K · 3rd gen, 2022 · 64GB Wi-Fi	$279.99 · sold out online	No current price verified	No current price verified
4K · 3rd gen, 2022 · 128GB Ethernet	$349.99 · sold out online	$249.99 · listed in stock	£249 · availability notification

The new 128GB model is a preorder, with release November 13, 2026. Apple’s own prices are CAD $429, US $299 and £299; the inspected US Amazon offer was $289.99. The two 2022 configurations above are older-stock alternatives, not additional 2026 configurations. A displayed sold-out price is not an immediately purchasable offer.

Apple Certified Refurbished and marketplace renewed devices are separate options with changing inventory. No priced Apple Certified Refurbished unit was verified in the three regional category pages during this check. Older Apple TV HD and earlier 4K generations may appear used or renewed; their condition, seller and remaining support prevent a single reliable current price across all three countries. They are not included as new-current-model recommendations.

Count subscriptions separately from the box

Apple’s streaming subscription is optional. Current monthly quotes are CAD $14.99, US $14.99 and £9.99. With an eligible three-month hardware offer redeemed, nine paid months add CAD $134.91, US $134.91 or £89.91 in the first year. Twelve monthly payments add CAD $179.88, US $179.88 or £119.88. Annual plans, bundles and promotions may change those totals.

Apple’s direct-price new box plus nine paid months therefore totals CAD $563.91, US $433.91 or £388.91. The US Amazon hardware offer reduces that example to US $424.90. These are monthly-plan scenarios, not mandatory ownership costs.

Apple’s subscription can also be watched on supported non-Apple devices. Buying an Apple box is not a requirement for keeping Apple shows. Sources: Canada, US, UK.

What a prepared supported-device setup costs

Setup includes personal guidance and provider introductions, supported TiviMate configuration and agreed Stremio remote setup. You purchase and renew subscriptions directly with your chosen providers; provider charges are separate from Setup and optional Support.

The US ONN example is $59.98 + $100 + $140 = $299.98 for year one. Using the Canadian listed hardware quote, the equivalent is $119.52 + $100 + $177.50 = $397.02 CAD, subject to confirming that hardware quote. For the Fire 4K Max, corresponding totals are $407.49 CAD, $324.99 USD and £302.49.

With no verified UK ONN quote, its first-year formula is actual landed hardware price + £230. Do not copy a US sticker price into a UK budget. US ONN packaging and listings can specify US/Puerto Rico compatibility; verify the exact regional unit and setup requirements before promising UK operation.

These are different content offerings, not identical catalogues. A service subscription does not guarantee every channel, event or title. Optional Support, torrent/debrid service, other retained subscriptions and extra equipment are separate.

The cost of buying twice

If you buy a Roku or Apple TV and later need an ONN for TiviMate, your hardware spending is first box + ONN − any refund or resale proceeds. Using the US prices above: a Roku Stick Plus followed by the ONN is $48.97 + $59.98 = $108.95; Apple’s $299 box followed by the ONN is $358.98. Starting with the suitable ONN costs $59.98. The first box is not necessarily wasted if you still use it, but it was an additional purchase to reach the intended setup.

TiviMate is designed for Android TV; our prepared TiviMate setup cannot simply be moved onto tvOS. Apple has other capable players, including BigPlay. Stremio’s official download page also lists Apple TV, so we do not call Apple categorically unable to run Stremio or unable to sideload. The available installation route and ongoing support need their own test. TiviMate · Stremio platforms.

Your provider choice stays yours.
